Hi again David!
Two or three movies immediately popped into my head...from 1964--"The T.A.M.I. Show" had the Stones and Gerry & the Pacemakers and from 1968--"Mrs. Brown You've Got A Lovely Daughter" with Herman's Hermits...of course we can't forget "Monterey Pop" and the performances of the Who and Eric Burdon and the Animals. And not sure if this qualifies here, but do you remember a movie from 1968 called "Wild In The Streets" ---Christopher Jones played a young popstar who becomes president of the USA....the emphasis was on the youth culture---I remember Richard Pryor was in the band and 'dosed' the water system with LSD....anyone over 30 was rounded up and put into concentration camps....freaky deaky film, but I dug it!

Getting into the 70's, I loved concert movies like "Woodstock", "Gimme Shelter", and "Mad Dogs and Englishmen" with Joe Cocker and so many others, and great films that I saw over and over: "Tommy" and "Quadrophenia" from the Who, "That'll Be The Day" and "Stardust" with David Essex (and Ringo, Keith Moon, Billy Fury, Adam Faith, Dave Edmunds), "Flame" starring Slade, and one of my faves of all time: "The Harder They Come" with Jimmy Cliff --opened my mind and heart to the rhythm of reggae music. Yah, mon!

Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!

Isn't it amazing all the things we remember! Perhaps I should do a post on 60's French New Wave like Weekend, 400 Blows etc! This entire period was just so full of life and creativity.
I am glad I was a part of it
As always, thanks John for your comments. It proves I didn't dream the whole thing up!

Hi David,
another great column.
i have seen almost all of the above except"the family way"

However i must comment on one of my all-time favorites "Blow Up"the Photographer, played by David Hemmings, was based on the great photographer David Bailey.
And the whole plot of did he photograph a murder or not trying to figure it out was it real and all the side goings on The Yardbirds, his fighting the crowd for the broken guitars neck and then when he gets outside throws it away.the party where his girlfriend, played by real life model,Verushka,is there after telling him she was going to be in Paris.he asked what happened and she replies"aren't we in Paris?"lots of surreal overtones and the mimes who pop in and out.My very favorite is at the end when the mimes are playing imaginary tennis on a court in a park and they "hit"the ball over the fence and Hemmings is outside watching them and they look as the camera follows the roll of the imaginary ball and they look at the spot where the ball stopped and look at Hemmings then at the ball and back at him and he realizes they want him to get it for them and he does. He gave in to the make believe,to the alternate reality. You have to see the movie to understand that he had stopped fighting at that point.

ok i got carried away it is on my favorites list

as far as the other flicks they takre me back
one side note Dennis Waterman who is in "Up The Junction"is currently starring in a show on WLIW a Brit import cop show called"New Tricks"great show if you are addicted to Brit shows as i am.

anyway way to go David
