British Bands in Film
I am fascinated by intuition! It always amazes me that when I am working on something, like this blog, reminiscing, al these other ideas pop up! WHile working on the Hollies blog, I was reminded about the After the Fox soundtrack. Then came the “do you remember this movie, that movie, etc?”
Here it is, a Q & A for my readers:
Do you remember?

A mod London photographer believes that he has photographed a murder.

Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush Traffic and the Spencer Davis group did the music
This comedy / drama film follows the sexual exploits of teenager Jamie McGregor and the permissive society of the 60′s.
To Sir With Love The Blackboard Jungle 60′s style

Up The Junction This is a great tune by Manfred Mann

Privilege Speaking of Manfred Mann, Paul Jones their lead singer decided to go solo. His performance opposite model Jean Shrimpton in s, did not bring the hoped-for stardom, although the film later became something of a cult classic.
The Family Way with Haley Mills was a comedy about a couple having difficulty consummating their marriage, featuring a score by Paul McCartney.
Performance Promo Mick Jagger!

Have a great week!

Hi David,
another great column.
i have seen almost all of the above except”the family way”
However i must comment on one of my all-time favorites “Blow Up”the Photographer, played by David Hemmings, was based on the great photographer David Bailey.
And the whole plot of did he photograph a murder or not trying to figure it out was it real and all the side goings on The Yardbirds, his fighting the crowd for the broken guitars neck and then when he gets outside throws it away.the party where his girlfriend, played by real life model,Verushka,is there after telling him she was going to be in Paris.he asked what happened and she replies”aren’t we in Paris?”lots of surreal overtones and the mimes who pop in and out.My very favorite is at the end when the mimes are playing imaginary tennis on a court in a park and they “hit”the ball over the fence and Hemmings is outside watching them and they look as the camera follows the roll of the imaginary ball and they look at the spot where the ball stopped and look at Hemmings then at the ball and back at him and he realizes they want him to get it for them and he does. He gave in to the make believe,to the alternate reality. You have to see the movie to understand that he had stopped fighting at that point.
ok i got carried away it is on my favorites list
as far as the other flicks they takre me back
one side note Dennis Waterman who is in “Up The Junction”is currently starring in a show on WLIW a Brit import cop show called”New Tricks”great show if you are addicted to Brit shows as i am.
anyway way to go David

Isn’t it amazing all the things we remember! Perhaps I should do a post on 60′s French New Wave like Weekend, 400 Blows etc! This entire period was just so full of life and creativity.
I am glad I was a part of it
As always, thanks John for your comments. It proves I didn’t dream the whole thing up!
Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!
